WHAT IS PAINT FROM YOUR SOUL?
It’s a unique approach to art making- NO PAINTING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Together we will go on an art journey where you will learn how to trust your intuition and learn how to follow what wants to happen. The goal is not to make something pretty to hang on the living room wall- it’s self-discovery. We will bypass the part of your mind concerned with control and perfectionism and make something personal.
This 4 week series starts Wednesday August 19th, then every Wednesday through September 9th. Classes run from 2pm-4:30
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We will learn how to place emotion directly on the canvas, using color to set the mood. We will learn a simple technique for drawing an abstract face. And then we will fuse all these elements together into a painting. We will do this together, emphasizing friendly support. We will not be judging each other’s work, we will not be judging our own work, we will be noticing what comes up and following along. All supplies will be provided- paint, canvases, easels, etc. You just have to bring yourself.
This 4 week series focuses on Medusa. Theres a lot of good story surrounding Medusa. We will consider Medusa together, then we lay down some paint. We will learn a simple technique for drawing a face, then we will fuse these elements together into a painting. We will do this together, emphasizing friendly support. We will not be judging artwork- not even our own. We will notice what comes up and follow along. At the end of each session, we will reflect on the work of the day. All supplies will be provided.
Amy’s 8 week flagship experience is a deep dive into 4 major feminine archetypes: mother, lover, warrior, and priestess, in the shadow and in the light. Stay tuned for this exciting class coming soon!
WHAT IS AN ARCHETYPE?
We see archetypes all the time in the movies- the hero, the villain, the mother. They are patterns of behavior and motivation that we can all identify. The good guy has a white hat, his main concern is the greater good. The bad guy has a black hat and a shifty look- he is motivated by his own self-interest. The mother is surrounded by children, selfless in her devotion to family. But...is it that simple? Looking deeply at an archetype and then painting it can surprise you.

Meet Amy
Amy is an artist and a Paint from your Soul facilitator. She has decades of experience in creating a safe space for women to feel, deal, and heal. Amy seeks to remove the barriers of perfectionism and control to promote an atmosphere of fun and discovery in which people can become who they are. The process of painting and working with archetypes is an opportunity to rediscover lost parts of ourselves, and celebrate the story, or change it.
